FEATURE Jobs of the Future (That Are Already Here): Prompt Engineeringπ€The profession of AI prompt engineering, spotlighted in early 2023 for its lucrative salaries, plays a crucial role in assisting companies with AI integration. Danai Myrtzani, a key member of the experimental AI team at Sleed, a digital marketing agency in Greece, defines her position as leaning more towards prompting than engineering. Since her start in March 2023, Myrtzani has been instrumental in developing a generative AI tool that crafts personalized LinkedIn posts using OpenAIβs ChatGPT. Her responsibilities extend beyond crafting prompts; she also educates colleagues, leads workshops, and curates an AI-focused internal newsletter. Myrtzani emphasizes the versatility and future importance of prompt engineering, pointing out that it encompasses more than just writing prompts, by also solving complex business challenges with AI solutions. βREAD MORE ABOUT THE ROLE HEREββQ: Are you a, or can you identify a, 'prompt engineer' at your workplace?ββTIDBIT AI-powered cameras to start ticketing illegally parked carsLos Angeles Metro is installing AI-powered cameras on its buses to automatically detect and ticket illegally parked vehicles blocking bus lanes and stops. The program, developed by Hayden AI under an $11 million contract, aims to improve bus speeds and accessibility. Around 100 camera systems will be mounted on bus windshields to scan for parking violations. After a 60-day warning period, the AI cameras will record license plates and footage of illegally parked cars, which will be reviewed by city traffic officers before issuing citations. The technology is designed to only record potential violations to protect privacy. Testing begins this summer, with a full rollout expected by the end of 2024 after community outreach. The use of AI-powered video enforcement for parking tickets was legalized in California in 2021. Similar systems are already used in Washington D.C. and New York City as AI expands for transportation safety applications. Separately, regional rail operator Metrolink also recently received $1.3 million to develop an AI system to detect hazards and trespassing on train tracks. βCHECK OUT MORE HERE FROM 'THE LA TIMES'βπ° Headlines
AI Word of the Day: PythonPython is a high-level programming language known for its clear syntax and readability, which makes it particularly popular among beginners and experts. It is a versatile language used across different fields, from web development to software engineering and scientific computing. In AI and machine learning, Python is especially significant due to its rich ecosystem of libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, which facilitate the development of complex algorithms and models. Why It MattersPython's simplicity and versatility are key to its widespread adoption in the AI community. Its extensive libraries and tools streamline implementation, testing, and deploying machine learning models. This allows developers and researchers to focus more on solving problems and less on the intricacies of programming. Python's readable code and active community also encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices, driving innovation in AI and other tech fields. Real-World ExampleIn FinTech, Python is extensively used to create predictive models for stock market analysis. By leveraging Python's powerful data manipulation and machine learning libraries, financial analysts can develop algorithms that predict stock movements based on historical data and market trends. This ability to harness complex mathematical models through accessible programming tools allows companies to make more informed investment decisions, optimize portfolios, and detect market anomalies, demonstrating Python's critical role in transforming data into actionable insights. π AI TOOLS
